چکیده

dynamic equilibrium between Mand m-filaments. The ratio of the static scattering intensity at I = 134 mM to that at 44 mM suggested that the m-filaments at I = 44 mM were a mixture of single subfilaments and filaments consisting of two subfilaments in a number ratio of about 3 2 . Laser light-scattering spectra at I = 134 and 74 mM could be analysed by a theory for rigid rods, whereas those at I = 44 mM required allowance for semiflexibility of filaments; m-filaments are more flexible at I=44 than at 74 mM.

Applications of light scattering in microbiology.

Applications of the three principal light scattering techniques of turbidimetry, differential light scattering, and quasi-elastic light scattering to systems of microorganisms are reviewed. The relation between the three techniques is demonstrated and it is shown how these techniques can yield basic structural, optical, and even hydrodynamic properties for a wide range of microorganisms, with p...

Towards Measurement of Polarization Properties of Skin using the Ellipsometry Technique

Introduction: The human skin is an active medium from the optical point of view. Therefore, the diagnostic and therapeutic techniques employing light are increasing. Current optical techniques are based on the measurement of the intensity of reflected absorbed or backscattered light from or within skin. Studies have shown that biological tissues, and in particular skin, demonstrate polarization...

Application of Light Scattering to Polymers, Liquid Crystals, and Biological Systems

The applications of elastic and quasi elastic light scattering techniques to polymers in dilute solution, thermotropic liquid crystals and biological membrane vesicles are presented. It is focused on how we extract specific structural features or dynamic processes of these condensed medium samples through the light scattering methods. The paper reviews the light scattering studies that were car...

Free Vibration Analysis of Microtubules as Orthotropic Elastic Shells Using Stress and Strain Gradient Elasticity Theory

In this paper, vibration of the protein microtubule, one of the most important intracellular elements serving as one of the common components among nanotechnology, biotechnology and mechanics, is investigated using stress and strain gradient elasticity theory and orthotropic elastic shells model. Microtubules in the cell are influenced by internal and external stimulation and play a part in con...

Modified Couple Stress Theory for Vibration of Embedded Bioliquid-Filled Microtubules under Walking a Motor Protein Including Surface Effects

Microtubules (MTs) are fibrous and tube-like cell substructures exist in cytoplasm of cells which play a vital role in many cellular processes. Surface effects on the vibration of bioliquid MTs surrounded by cytoplasm is investigated in this study. The emphasis is placed on the effect of the motor protein motion on the MTs. The MT is modeled as an orthotropic beam and the surrounded cytoplasm i...
